As I walk through these old bombers, I always think about bailing out. Not me, of course, I haven't got a parachute, but the guys who flew these into flak and enemy fighter coverage were incredibly brave, and often didn't survive. Joe and his fellow fighter escorts, whatever their color, helped to bring more of these guys back home.
