It was purchased for about $350 and used as a crop duster in the Carolinas till the mid 60's. It sat derelict till the mid 90's when she was restored. We purchased the plane in 2005 after is was damaged due to engine failure. We rebuilt the lower wings from the ground up, repaired the uppers and recovered them. Repairs were also made to the fuselage, landing gear, axles, wheels, engine, and propeller. Other than that it was in pretty nice shape! We got the plane up flying in spring 2008. We have been bringing the plane to airshows across the West, and now Midwest where we can educate about the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. We typically travel with a Tuskegee Airmen, although that is getting more difficult every day.
